Cellar Facts

Established in 1993 in the Western North Carolina Mountain community of Banner Elk, The Art Cellar Gallery began as the lifelong vision of Pamela McKay. Having grown up in the area, she appreciates and understands the correlation between the beauty of North Carolina's natural environment to the artistic inspiration it gives area artists. Constantly envisioning a gallery of her own, Pamela sought to concentrate on showing the artwork of those who were indigenous to the immediate region. It was with this focus that the Art Cellar Gallery became a reality.

During it's fourteen year history, The Art Cellar Gallery has continued to offer the artwork of the area's most beloved artists, reaching throughout the Southeast and nationally to present an exciting variety of works in a broad range of styles and mediums. From primitive to realistic, impressionistic to abstract, The Art Cellar Gallery features fine quality artwork by both established and emerging artists that is unlike anywhere else in the Southeast.

There is a passion-driven element to our presentation: passion for style, passion for the artist and passion for each piece entering the gallery space. Our desire for substance in artwork propels our quest for knowledge and expertise in the artistic field as well. Our focus as an exhibition gallery creates an engaging selection of featured artwork throughout the summer season which allows clients to experience a body of work by a favorite artist or the introduction to someone new. The exhibitions also offer the artists we represent a chance to cultivate their individual oeuvres.

The Art Cellar Gallery provides our clients with a relaxed and comfortable exhibition space in which to select art which become treasured additions to their collections, large or small. We also provide corporate and private consulting and placement as well as purchase on approval and payment options. Our in house Frame Shop offers museum quality conservation framing services, consultation and other specialty custom framing services.
