Kathy Myers Reece
Kathy grew up in the foothills of the North Carolina Mountains where she began studying art with her aunt when she was in the 6th grade. After attending Peace College in Raleigh and Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, Kathy graduated from UNC-Wilmington. She was fortunate enough to study with Claude Howell at UNC-W and later with Joe Cox at Oriental, NC as part of his summer workshops.
Kathy specializes in oils with a focus on landscape and architecture. She prefers to paint "en plein air" when weather permits and from her studio in Raleigh or Valle Crucis at other times. Whether sitting alongside the Watauga River or perched high on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Kathy can convey a singular impression in nature using radiant colors and heavy brushwork. Her paintings are in collections in North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, New York, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
