Kim Penney’s destiny to become a photographer started four decades ago. As a 10 year old, moving to Thailand with her family , she was able to pick out her first camera while stopping in Hong Kong. She picked an Olympus PEN-ee. Little did she know that she was holding onto something that would define her in more ways than one.
A year of living and traveling abroad opened her eyes to the world. Her love of photography increased as she grew up and Kim pursued a B.S. degree in photojournalism from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications and a minor in fine arts. Photography opened many doors for Kim and she was blessed to use her talents covering sports for the university and shooting the Winter Olympics for the International Olympic Committee. After graduation, Kim settled down in Orlando and worked for a commercial photographer.
Her approach was photojournalistic…..real moments in real time. This same look is what Kim brought to her own company in 1998 when she started a portrait business. Photographing children and families on location , and then weddings in her unique style brought her much attention. Throughout the years Kim has been fortunate to continue to travel. Whether on mission trips or vacations with her husband Michael and their three children, her camera is always present.
