"I am a watercolor painter. I didn’t choose to be, it chose me. Beginning in the early seventies, inspired by a “colony” of watercolor artists in my home town of Memphis, I bought some paint, paper and brushes, checked out a few books from the library and tried to copy the techniques. I had been drawing for years. This seemed to me to be a next logical step. I entered an amateur contest in the fall, won honorable mention, and quit…for years.
My career as a broadcaster was beginning to take off, and over the next twenty years I only painted occasionally. But in September of 2001, I decided to redirect my leisure time. Becoming deeply focused on creating art became my passion. Subjects are all people, places and occasions that I know well. From fly fishing to rural landscapes to characters that enter and exit my life, I paint from my travels and my experiences." - Robert Eoff
